Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film maker as well as an actor family. She pursued both professions her own. Aged nine the actress made her film debut in the role of Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. In 1994 Asia decided to try her hand at directing and turned out two film shorts: Prospettive In 1996 she produced a documentary about her father and, in 1998, she directed a documentary about the legendary director Abel Ferrara, Abel/Asia (1998), which won an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia's feature-length debut is Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. She also was the lead actor as well as wrote the screenplay. In May 2000, the movie premiered in Italy and across the world. The film won a prize at the Williamsburg International Film Festival in Brooklyn. In 2001, following the directing of several music videos and giving birth, she welcomed her first daughter, Anna Lou. She starred with Jean-Marc Barr on The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she appeared with Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action thriller. Asia is the creator of several short stories, that have been released in several magazines.
